The First “Plan International Hong Kong Corporate and Foundation Appreciation Award Ceremony” Was Held Successfully. Together We Make Children’s And Girls’ Lives Fruitful And Shiny.
To show gratitude to our corporate and foundations’ long-term support and celebrate the sustainable partnership, the first “Plan International Hong Kong Corporate and Foundation Appreciation Award Ceremony” was successfully held on 19th August, 2022. We are pleased that representatives from 21 corporates and foundations attended the ceremony. Mr. Andrew Weir, our board chairman, Ms. June Leung, our board member, and Dr. Kanie Siu, our Chief Executive Officer, joined the ceremony, to present the awards to the representatives from 21 corporate and foundation.
Three awards were presented in the ceremony, including the “Caring Foundation Award”, “Caring Corporate Award” and “Menstruation Friend Company Award”, to recognize the support and contributions of corporates and foundations to advancing children’s rights and equality for girls.
The first “Plan International Hong Kong Corporate and Foundation Appreciation Award Ceremony” was held successfully. Awarded corporate and foundation representatives were having a pleasant moment with Plan International Hong Kong.

Mr. Andrew Weir, our board chairman, showed sincere appreciation to all of the awardees. He expressed that we have gone through a hard time in the past three years. We could only stand still because of corporates’ benevolent sponsorship and foundations’ long-term support, which enabled us to stay in the work fighting for children’s and girls’ rights. He hoped that corporates and foundations would continue to walk with us in the future so more children could grow up happily and healthily in a fair world.
Dr. Kanie Siu also shared our fruitful work impacts. With generous corporates’ and foundations’ support, Plan International Hong Kong held a number of fundraising events to gather resources for various aspects, like providing coronavirus relief in developing countries, implementing the educational programme, and anti-child marriage projects. At the same time, she pointed out that the ‘Menstruation Friendly Company’ partners have taken a great step to create a menstrual-friendly workplace and also help with diminishing period poverty and shaming in developing countries.
Andrew Weir, our Board Chairman said Plan International Hong Kong looks forward to continuing to join forces in transforming the lives of 200 million girls to ensure they all Learn, Lead, Decides and Thrive.

We were delighted to have Ms. Chi Zhang, the Director, Corporate Social Responsibility of KPMG China; Ms. Ophelia Lin, Founder and Managing Director of Meiriki Japan; and Mr. Gary Lam, Regional Senior General Manager of Hang Yick Properties Management Limited, to deliver a speech at the ceremony. They shared the joy and meaning of having companionship with Plan International.
Dr. Siu hoped that our corporate and foundation partners would continue to walk hand in hand with us in the future to create opportunities for more children and girls so that they could live a splendid life!
KPMG China has been supporting the project in providing education and vocational training for underprivileged girls in the province of Shaanxi in China for years. Ms. Zhi Chang, the Director, Corporate Social Responsibility of KPMG China, pointed out that corporates bear the social responsibility to nourish future generations so that children and girls are able to pursue their dreams. The crucial motivation for KPMG to partner with Plan International Hong Kong is to create life-changing chances for children and girls.
Meiriki Japan has been a longstanding supporter of Girls Get Equal, which is dedicated to promoting girls’ rights, protecting girls from child marriage, the issues of period poverty and shaming, as well as the threat of female genital mutilation. As a female entrepreneur, Ms. Ophelia Lin, Founder and Managing Director of Meiriki Japan, shows great concern about gender equality issues. She would continue to encourage colleagues to join Plan International’s forces, to raise awareness of girls’ difficulties and develop a world with gender equality.
The ‘Team of Care’ is led by Hang Yick Property Management Limited, which is a strong team backing up Plan International Hong Kong’s volunteer work. They help with translating children’s sponsorship letters, volunteering in event packing and preparation, etc. Mr. Gary Lam, Regional Senior General Manager of Hang Yick Properties Management Limited, was proud of having such a team to lead, and to take part in meaningful community work.
