Introduction
“Be a Change-maker” (BACM) is the flagship educational programme of Plan International Hong Kong. Since 2017, BACM has nurtured nearly 100 young individuals as change-makers, equipping them with knowledge, skills and international exposure through visits to the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia and Thailand.
From March to July 2025, participants will embark on a transformative journey, comprising training workshops, an overseas exposure trip, and youth-led awareness campaigns, to become empowered global citizens driving positive change in the community.
Our Transformative Journey Includes:
Eight-day Nepal Exposure Trip
With the support of Plan International Nepal, the programme facilitates in-depth exchange with local youth in Eastern Nepal. Participants will gain firsthand insights into various community issues, their root causes, and recent improvements:
- Visiting local schools with menstrual hygiene facilities, child-friendly spaces and climate-resilient learning environments
- Exploring sexual and reproductive health issues, and the challenges faced by out-of-school children and their re-enrollment processes
- Learning about anti-child, early and forced marriage initiatives, as well as youth-led awareness-raising activities
- Understanding the history and culture of Nepal
- Interacting with the local youth and community leaders, and participating in inclusive friendly matches with students with disabilities
Training Workshops and Awareness Campaign
A series of training workshops will cover topics such as Nepalese culture and visits to underprivileged communities, equipping participants with a global perspective on social issues and fostering their development as GLOBAL CITIZENS! Following the exposure trip, each group will initiate a small-scale awareness campaign or school talk, and all participants will showcase their outcomes through activities or performances at the Graduation Ceremony.
