We are relentless in driving change to advance children’s rights and equality for girls in the areas of inclusive quality education, early childhood development, ending violence, sexual and reproductive health and rights, skills and decent work and young people driving change in more than 80 countries.
Every child and young person deserves the right to access safe, inclusive, quality education. However, 224 million children and youth across the world are currently out of school.
We are committed to promoting free, equal access to quality education for all children from early learning to secondary education. We work with children and young people, their families, communities, wider society and governments, and advocate at both local and international levels to enable children to receive education.

Millions of young children grow up without the care and services they need to survive and thrive.
We help vulnerable and excluded children, particularly girls, grow up equally valued and cared for, and free from discrimination. We ensure young children receive the nurturing care they need, including during emergencies. Our work improves children’s health, nutrition, early learning and safety while challenging limiting and discriminatory gender stereotypes that hold girls back from an early age.

Violence against children in any form has a profound impact on their physical and mental health and development. Due to gender inequality, girls are at higher risk of experiencing gender-based violence, including sexual violence, exploitation and trafficking.
We aim to prevent and respond to violence against children and youth, especially girls and young women, and ensure their right to grow up in a safe and peaceful environment, free from all forms of harm and abuse.

Gender inequality and discrimination against girls mean they are often robbed of the right to make their own life decisions – from what happens to their bodies, to when and to whom they marry.
An estimated 12 million girls are forced into child marriage each year and 18 million adolescent girls give birth every year. These force girls to drop out of school and take on the responsibilities of motherhood, hindering their healthy development and potential.
We work with partners around the world to enable access to quality sexual health services and education, and eliminate harmful practices such as child, early and forced marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), and period poverty and period shaming.

Two-thirds of the world’s 1.2 billion young people lack essential skills, severely limiting their job prospects. Currently, 1 in 5 young individuals is neither in employment nor education or training, the ratio has steadily risen over time.
We equip young people, especially women, with market-driven employability skills, financial literacy, transferable life skills, and business and entrepreneurial skills. We provide peer-to-peer mentoring, career counselling, and job matching and placements to support their participation in decent work.

All children and young people have the right to freely speak out and influence the decisions that shape the world around them.
Across the world, girls suffer injustices every day solely due to their gender. Our mission is to strengthen the girls’ rights movement, taking it from grassroots to global, and empower girls to take control of their own lives.
We enable vulnerable children to understand and defend their rights and encourage them to join the girls’ rights movement. We also encourage boys and men to respect girls and women, and become allies in the global girls’ rights movement.
