In cooperation with the Department of Asian and International Studies of City University of Hong Kong, Plan International Hong Kong has organized “Plan International Hong Kong Youth Conference” since 2015. The conference provides a chance for students to study and discuss girls’ issues, so as to encourage them to speak about girls’ rights and nurture a sense of global citizenship. Such initiatives will contribute to the efforts in freeing more girls from violence and helping them get the education, skills and support they need, ultimately creating powerful forces for change in their communities.
“Plan International Hong Kong Youth Conference 2017” continued with the theme “JUSTICE: Because I am a Girl”. 58 students from 11 local secondary schools participated in the conference and were divided into 16 teams. Each team, representing one developing country, presented on different girls’ issues and made suggestions for improvement.
To help students prepare for their presentation for the Youth Conference, two training workshops were held on 6 and 9 August respectively at City University of Hong Kong. Professionals were invited to speak at the workshops to enhance students’ knowledge and presentation skills.
